The Best in Hesse
Important accolade for Schoder employee David Englert
Prizes were awarded to the participants in this year’s “Good form – shaping craftsmen” competition on 30 October in the town hall in Baunatal, in the district of Kassel.
The 2008 regional winner was a Schoder employee, engraver David Englert. His award and certificate were presented by Hesse’s Minister for Economy, Transport and Regional Development, Dr. Alois Rhiel, and President of the Hesse Trade Council, Bernd Ehinger.
David Englert, born in 1988, began an apprenticeship in engraving at Schoder GmbH after finishing school in 2005. He qualified for the competition in the category “Engraver – Relief engraving technique” with his journeyman’s piece, an engraving tool for the engraving of bottle coasters for a summer party for the Frankfurt airport fire service. He was ultimately also able to convince the jury of his skills.
The contest for German craftspeople has been taking place annually since 1951 and is conducted on a trade council, regional and national level. The participants must be young craftspeople of up to 23 years of age who have passed their final examination between autumn of the previous year and summer of the year of competition with a grade of “good” or higher.
Schoder GmbH is proud of the accolade for its apprentice. It shows that the work of training manager Martin Zapke can impart the knowledge and techniques which broaden the horizons of young people in the trade. Metalworking is a field which demands particular technical and creative proficiency.
All the young people who have won the regional competition in their category go on to take part in the national competition.
So the management and training manager Martin Zapke wish prize winner David Englert good luck there.
